The controversy is elevating this game far more than anyone would have had interest in it otherwise.
Truth be told, those opposed to this release have far more ground to argue on than the "dont take my video games / freedom of speech" crowd that haven't a notion about the subject do.

I am just about finished Days Gone and it is a fantastic game. I'm a little disappointed it's the free game bit only because I own it already (and I bought it not that I got it with the PS collection) but I'm more than happy with getting Soul Storm so all good. Hopefully more people take the chance with Days Gone and enjoy it now. Although it sold really well apparently

The rumour did say that access to your content would be cut off. That pissed me off if it was true. The fact we can still get it eases the blow a lot. After all I dont expect it to be running forever. Its a huge shame though

I dont care for Fortnite. I dont play it, I dont plan to. I also don't care what anyway else does with their time and what they enjoy so I won't be sharing any stupid trend words or campaigning to shut down a game others enjoy that doesn't at all effect my lifestyle.

"Gamers" can be very defensive so they will lash out at any misaligned opinions around the subject but given the nature of games they are a huge time sink. Definitely don't give up on games but people should make sure they are leaving space in their life to branch out and explore other hobbies and pass times. To develop different skills. Quality of life improves when you do.

Video games are a distraction and absolutely a waste of time. They are designed to be. I've greatly toned down my spending on new games the last year so I can easily wait this one out if they go this route. Which is sad because there's only a couple of games I've permitted myself to get excited for this year and buy on launch day. Most of which are small developers that I'd like to support.
