Your misinterpreting what he's saying. He said Nintendo isn't doing as much as they could in the mobile and GaaS areas. Whether you like GaaS or not, it's not an inherently bad practice. Nintendo can make a ton of money in that space without having to resort to aggressive loot box tactics, especially since their games have long shelf lives and retain their original price for years.

Same with mobile. They're not changing their focus away from the Switch, the...

I don't see the Switch letting up anytime soon. Unlike the Wii, the premise of the Switch can carry the console on its own for a long period of time. People will always want home console experiences to go, whereas Motion Controls, while still novel and important, can't keep a console afloat forever on their own. This is why the Wii fizzled out in its last few years, Nintendo just didn't evolve the concept. Nintendo has deliberately set up the Switch to last of a very long time if ...

It doesn't need to be. It just needs to be a professional, yet fun celebration of industry talent. I mean, it's better than the testosterone fueled Circle-jerk we had to put up with back in the Spike TV era.

Because they like to act that their way of gaming is the extra special or "true" way of gaming. And anyone who doesn't recognize or conform to it, is a fickle casual obsessed with Candy Crush. It's really annoying that gamers feel developers must bow down to their specific tastes. If they don't, they'll play the victim role and claim they were "abandoned" or "forgotten".

Video Games are a creative medium. Developers have the rig...

Yes, they already do. Nintendo should have as many creative voices as possible, that includes those who make "casual games". If that upsets the "hardcore" gamer snowflakes, then too bad so sad. I believe developers work better when left on their own making what they want to make, rather than whinny gamers telling them what to make.

Yes, but Sony's marketing (the little there was) was focused on taking long, demanding games like Uncharted on the go. But it was quickly clear that wasn't working. Sony then fed the scraps of the Vita to the indies, and the Vita found a loyal, if small niche. Again, not to put down the Vita, it's a fine system and all, but Sony's entire strategy, execution, and pitch for the console was incredibly flawed.

It's not that people don't want console quality on the go. They just don't want bloated, overly demanding games on the go. Sony's problem with the Vita, aside from the obvious memory card bullshit, was two fold. One, they were focusing on games that were far too time consuming and demanding to be played in a mobile setting. I love Uncharted, but that's not really a game I'd want to play on a lunch break due to it's story-driven and cut-scene heavy nature.

This just in, Doom on running on tablet hardware is not as good as Doom running on a Home Console or PC?! In other news, Water is Wet, Details @ 11. Seriously though, we already know you can get a better version of Doom on other consoles, but that's not really the point. The fact that Doom runs competently on the Switch at all, and you can take it with you is why it's so exciting. Yes, you can play the superior PS4 or PC versions at home, but being able to have a surprisingly faithful...

Fine Nintendo, you can be different if you want. But try and make sure there's functionality that can be considered standard for 2017 as well. A basic messaging system, join game function, and a way to easily voice chat on the console should all be taken care off. Make it as unique as you want, just give us the basics as well.

For the record, innovation =/= invention. Sure, the tablet that turns into a console premise of the Switch is nothing new, but Nintendo did the concept in a unique and interesting way, and that's what's innovative about it.

That's not really the point. The Switch is designed to compliment smartphone games, not replace them. It's entirely possible for people to own both a Switch and phone for games.

Why do we need to separate retail from eShop games? If it's developed for the Switch, it's a Switch game, plain and Simple. Snake Pass is just as much of a Switch game as Breath of the Wild is.

Watch @superchiller try and spin this as Nintendo intentionally going with cartridges to intentionally screw over publishers and drive them away, when in reality having optical media on a mobile device is a big no-no. The PSP already showed why it doesn't work.

"I as a gamer & consumer refuse to just accept the steaming shitpile Nintendo is serving & clap like a seal shouting "MORE PLEASE!" I love Nintendo & more importantly love MYSELF to simply shut up & take it."

Considering the sales of the Switch, I'd say you're in the minority. The Switch is a risk that paid off for Nintendo. It's not perfect, but it's the best thing Nintendo has done in years.

@Theknightofnights Don't bother with him. superchiller prefers to spew outdated/incorrect information and lame conspiracies to fit his own bias.

"After the initial hype and artificial shortages died down, sales have greatly slowed, and it is widely available."

Except the Switch was the best selling system in July according to NPD. Also, the shortages are confirmed to be due to a wide shortage of NAND flash memory and mobile parts and is isn't artificial. Nintendo even has to fight Apple in order to get these parts.

You don't have to like the Switch, but don't go around makin...

Not that I'm defending Samus Return's amiibo implementation, but how can you say Nintendo doesn't get DLC? They release regular DLC for their games just like any other company, in many cases, for free. Just because a game has poor amiibo implementation, doesn't mean the company's entire approach to DLC is wrong, especially when it's otherwise, fundamentally the same as other publishers. This entire article is based on an incredibly flawed premise. If you want to critic...

Nintendo went out of their way to make the Switch easy to develop for simply because the Wii U wasn't getting enough support. If they just want their games to sell on it, they wouldn't have done that. It may not get every AAA game on the market, but plenty of PS4 and Xbox One games can be converted to the Switch with ease. I'm not really sure why you were expecting PS4 level performance from a mobile device. And yes, regardless of what Nintendo calls it, the Switch IS a mobile dev...

Didn't Nintendo shut down that bogus "artificial scarcity" theory? I mean, they have to fight Apple to get more chips, and ship Switches by way of plane. That doesn't sound like an intentional shortage to me.

Ah yes, now we're at the "It's just a fad, make it go away" phase of the Switch. Any pathetic spin to try and downplay it's success is good for business. if you don't like the Switch, fine. But if you were expecting some sort of faceless PlayStation 4 clone from Nintendo, I think it's time you look elsewhere, because that's not Nintendo's strong suit. It's time gamers accept that Nintendo just occupies a certain niche in the industry and that it's...
