I honestly believe that it isn't just DRM killing the PC gaming sector.
Look at it this way, Pirates are royally badgering game devs, this I can sympathize with, it's a sad story. But DRM is not preventing them from pirating, all it is doing is isolating the remaining dedicated and faithful PC gamers who are supporting them!
They need to find a better way of dealing with pirates... easier said than done.

I was looking forward to the premise of this game, as I loved warioware in the past. Looks like a 'maybe' purchase to me at the moment.

Whilst I agree that he is full of himself, he is honestly a smart guy, who knows what audiences want. Which is more than a lot of current game developers and designers can say for themselves in this day and age.
It's getting worse these days, but I think it's always been a case of this.
Sure it is up to personal opinions, but I don't believe it ends there, some reviewers just act like jerks for the ratings, I say don't give them the satisfaction, screw them.
