I have no idea how an action based ff7 would even work. How the F would you even do magic for 3 characters while also having to run around?

Eww, why would you want that? Then you have to leave the area and come back to grind. Just sounds awful. Random encounters are the staple if old school RPGs. And FF7 is just that.

I took the plunge yesterday and got the digital guardian edition. Haven't played since beta, meant to get it sooner but so many other games came out.
I pray they are smart enough not to fall into that trap. Nobody wants 7 to play like 15. We want 7 to play like 7.

Each numbered final fantasy is its own story with no relation to the others. You didn't miss anything and you can pick it up and play and understand no problem.
I only buy digital if I can get it on sale for a good price. If I'm paying full retail then I goto the store and get a physical copy for my consoles.
Now on pc I try to keep everything on steam if I can.
