To be fair wow has come a long way graphically since release. It is a 10 year old game.

In world at War they finally fixed this historical inaccuracy and allowed you to reload, but now where making the same mistakes again.

RAM is dirt cheap now which is nice but the problem is RAM isn't most gamers bottle neck anymore, GPUS are. And they know it. Prices have gone up. Most new games demand tons of video RAM from the gpu itself to max out settings. These cards are marked up.
You used to be able to get a top of the line gpu for $400 now it's $650-$1000.

I guess you should look into 3-4 TB options. They are expensive and don't have the best reliability but it sounds like you need it
