Eat your heart out, Amnesia...
Haha. Nice try, but I don't own any consoles. There's no good guy here.
I do say pretty explicitly in the article (it's even in the synopsis) that this issue is bigger than Sony.
Love it or hate it, the Wii was an important system in the history of video games. My favorite game for it is one that very few people talk about anymore: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It used the control scheme so well (and early on in the Wii's lifespan) that it's really a shame nobody ran with it.
Phenomenal review. Well done!
I totally get that it's not for kids. I'm a parent, and I think a ratings system is very important. The thing is that it was supposed to be rated for people over 18 only. It's quite the thing for a democratic country to say a game is unsuitable for adults.
It's too bad all around.
"5/5: Excellent: Cream of the crop. Few or negligible flaws. Definitive recommendation." -- Hmm, I don't see the word 'perfect' in there.
He had a great time playing the game in spite of a few small issues and would recommend it wholeheartedly. That's what a 5/5 means on this site. You can agree with it or not, but that's how Twinfinite rolls, and I can assure you Chris is nothing if not honest.
While I suppose one reviewing pro...
One thing I want is more of a living city -- specifically one full of civilians going about their days. There could be moves where you can slide through/push past crowds of people, using lanes to move with crowds on escalators, choosing to save innocents vs. using them as cover/human shields.
Um...one of the main points of the article was that none of these companies care about the consumer and are simply looking for the biggest dollar. Trust me, it's in there. :)
What have you got against libraries? They're organization dedicated to serving everyone regardless of background, financial situation, etc. Do you steal candy from children too?
Nope, I'm a PC guy so I don't have a horse in this race. Nice try though.
I, for one, eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome our Cactuar overlords.
Like a lot of people, I used to be a big fan of Final Fantasy games. Now that the generation is winding down, I kind of do want to pick up a used PS3 and play through the XIII series.
I hope we can name characters after ourselves like in XCOM.
*dibs on being an elf*
Based on the multitude of stories about the appalling treatment of women in this industry (fighting game community, Notch's parties, Booth Babes, Anita Sarkeesian, the list goes on), I don't think anyone in the video game community is in a position to be throwing judgement around.
As for 'friendly competition', seeing how people behave when the question of preferred video game consoles comes up is at least as ridiculous as anyone who cheers for a sports team....
@Mikeyy -- Don't get me wrong; I like Starcraft just fine. My point is that hardcore fans of that series have a deep knowledge of its systems and recognize how it's different from other iterations, so a small change under the hood can have massive repercussions. For a casual fan though, Starcraft 2 looks and plays like a prettier version of Starcraft 1. Sports games are the same way in that yearly changes to rosters and upgrades in something like Madden or NHL can have huge impacts on...
How is that any different from a series like Call of Duty or Starcraft? Or for that matter, how is it any different from something like Street Fighter where they add a couple of characters and sell it as a new game?
The whole point of the article (I'm assuming you didn't read it based on the comment you left) is that people crap all over sports games yet give a free pass to other types of games that use similar tactics.
As for charging $60, the reas...
I balanced it out, because that's what I do.
Totally, and if I were Winston I'd hope my mom did the same thing.
She probably would actually...
I agree with Soldierone. They are definitely much more responsible for the Aliens mess, but when you choose to put your name on a game you are taking responsibility for it whether you like it or not. If they'd sold it as a $20 title, it would have still been a crappy game but at least their would have been some kind of tacit acknowlegement that it's a subpar game and more of a curiosity.
I'm not a lawyer, but I'm not sure saying you like a game, even if it is a rip-off of another game, is grounds for a lawsuit. If you're talking about the company that made Game Dev Tycoon, why is that relevant here?
