Why I don't understand is how someone can say that the PS4 is obviously more popular than the X1, then say that's implausible a gaming website is overflowing with PS4 fans.

I'm seeing a problem in that you chose a 4-year-old old GPU. The problem with that is that they don't keep their value well. For $150 you can get a GTX 750 ti that Nvidia launched in February, which'll do much better...
Secondly, the Core 2 series were replaced with the i3's, i5's, and i7's back in 2008, which will perform better for cheaper.
I know those are what Ubisoft posted, but they shouldn't be...
