@Captain Sony, U R NOT FUNNY! That is not the only reason, its a simple way of observing there is a new technology, HD, which people are moving towards and that is why DVD's are decreasing in price. They are increasing the gap in price between DVD's and Blu-Ray, by lowereing the price in order to remain competitive. DVD's are taking advantage of the long tail effect. If you need help with that concept, go use wikipedia, DB!

My friend, if blu-ray hasnt taken off, why are the regular DVD's $4.99 @ your local best buy. Its slow I agree but moving in the right direction.
Okay, even with the cheapest made in china blu ray player at $150 and the $199 (40GB) XBox, you are upto $350, and now you have two devices instead of one. But if you want to compare apples with apples, the Sony Blu-ray is at $249 which would bring up the price to $450. Yes, there is the possibility of just going with Xbox and Netf...

I would not say 2009 will be the year of the PS3. What I do notice is that as a female gamer when asked which console should I buy, I simply state.
