Short answer: yes, unless your bying power from a renewable resource program through you provider like I do.

Long answer: No, the power required by PS3 to run these calculations is less than the cost of a PC to run these calculations for these particular types of WU's as PS3 can complete them in a fraction of the time. Also distributed computing as a whole uses less power than a supercomputer of equal performance would as supercomputers are designed for 1 purpose: performance. ...

Both HD and Blu are available for rental through NetFlix, you can sign up and put the formats in your preferred order, so when you pick a movie they will send you whichever format is in stock in order of your choice.

I've received 6 Blu-Ray movies through NetFlix already as it's my top format choice in my options.

My bet on why its 1% as opposed to 2-3% (lol, i know) is that the option isn't advertised on their site well at all.

At it's peak the F@H program on PS3 uses 200w/hr. While a computer will use 350+ an hour to cruise the net and read gaming sites LOL.

Switched protein sizes, it'll be back up there once they start issuing larger WU's again. It's on the Folding News page at Stanford. Heres some more accurate listings of how it works.

I have no problem with 360 fans playing former Sony or Nintendo games. Nor vice versa. The only thing that bothers me about multiplatform games is that the best abilities of any and every system they touch far too often (IMHO) gets compromised. If they tailor the games based on the system it will be fine but in this "Next Gen" each system has great strengths the others can't match. If we start losing the integrity of the games through multi-porting I'll be quite upset.

PS3 is a "Computer Entertainment System" er..... whatever shenanigans they be calling it now. Either way it's kinda neat. I'm getting a real kick out of all this little black thingamajig does lol.

But when the 360 version came out I had already beaten that game.

I've already got a 160gig internal. You can use any sata 2.5" so why would we need this.

But could you imagine the fanboy outcry if Bungie released a PS3 Halo.

Team Number is 53751

Since the public release (thursday here state side) the terraflop count for the PS3 has DOUBLED. Total ouput of info from PS3 is now almost twice that of all the other system configurations combined! Not bad.

Unlike every other system release including Sony's stateside / JPN release the was a crapload of them. Most people who were going to get them just preordered and picked them up instore.

Be hard to have 95% left if 60% of the countries allocation was preordered wouldn't it:

It doesn't benefit me (MS's style of business and corporate ethic). They're OS's are buggy and riddled with security flaws and their game systems both broke on me multiple times, so I guess that would be your answer.

Oh and the opposite of Capitalism is Socialism.... they are both economic principals. Communism is a "control" or "power" principal, like Dictatorship, Democracy, and Monarchies.

...there’s really little in the PS3 where I can say, ‘Gosh, I wish we had that’,” Neil Thompson

Well then do explain the 360 ELITE good sir.

1. Bigger HDD (oh yeah huh)
2. HDMI (you know that thing we don't need if you read our press releases)
3. Gates wanted 1080p right quick after saying it wasn't a biggie.

Care to explain the HD add-on as well while your at it?

And if there's nothing Sony has that you want why are you fa...

That and the fact that unlike every other system launch before theres 1,000,000 systems at launch so theres not going to be a drastic shortage.

6906d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

What would leave you too beleive there is no demand? Hundreds of thousands of preorders are placed. And if people walk into a store looking to buy a system and it isn't there no sale is made. If you can spin not selling a system due to a supply shortage as a good thing then please do explain. Explain to me how saying "Well we would have sold a whole lot of systems but we never sent them, so we didn't" is supposed to be a smart move in anyones head than your own.

1 Million units ready for launch day EU... Impressive. Wish more companies (including Sony) did this more often instead of trying to make the demand look high by shipping only a handful of systems and being all "Gosh were awesome we sold out all of em in a day!!! Go us!!" Having to deal with it due to the Wii, 360, and PS3 (US/JPN) launches sucked.

But even if they only sell half this launch weekend then they've beat the Wii or 360 launches in EU. If they clear throug...
