It is the second week in the roll that PS3 has outsold Xbox 360 more than 60K now. This week is weaker number for all consoles, but PS3 still outsold Xbox 60K. It means the gap percentage increases. Wait you see the number for the next few weeks with the impact of Blu-ray win, it will be very interesting to see how big the gap will further be widening. A lot of people who used to sit on the fence waiting for the format war to end will jump on PS3 in a massive way.
Look at the last few weeks' world wide PS3 sales number, the lead over Xbox 360 is solidly widening. The next few weeks will be very interesting to watch with the Blu-ray winning the format war. PS3 will become a very popular home entertaining media center which serves high quality gaming and HD movie playing while Xbox 360 is scaled back as a game console. Xbox add-on is perceived as a failure. There are tons of PS3 exclusive games are coming in 2008 and that will drive the momentum sky ...
PS3 has just killed HD DVD and the overtaking of Xbox 360 is its next target. I thought it might take couple years to do that before Warner's announcement. But now with Warner's move, the accelerated momentum of Blu-ray plus the out-pouring of major PS3 exclusive games in the coming months will certainly drive up PS3 sales tremendously in 2008. I won't be surprised at all that PS3 can catch up Xbox 360 before mid 2009.
The total PS3 units sold has just passed 9 million this week. With the fast increase of standalone BD player sales, the total Blu-ray players sold is actually around 10 million at this time. The format war has basically ended before the Warner's announcement. BD players should easily pass 20 millions by this year's end. This is the hard fact that Toshiba should have known it by heart and is reluctant to admit it openly. They repeatedly avoid mentioning the PS3 in the format war is exactl...
Gaming is just one of functions PS3 provides. It is also a top notch 1080P Blu-ray Disc player, a great DVD up-converter (near HD), a TV Tuner/DVR with PlayTV (3/08), 3DHome/BD Live (4/08), a 64-bit Linux PC, a Remote Play and Control with PSP, and a slick looking set-top box. Its powerful Cell processor is only used 40% at this point. All the important features like Wifi, BT are integrated. The continuing firmware upgrades make it future proof for years to come. This tremendous machine ...
PS3 has beaten X360 last three consecutive weeks on a world wide basis. This week seems to be widening the lead even further. It has surpassed 8 millions unit and on its way to reach 11 millions by 3/31/2008 as Sony has targeted. It will hit 18 millions by the end of 2008. The momentum is just started. It has 15 big exclusive games to be released in the coming 6 months. The Blu-ray effect is another major factor that is pushing PS3 sales and X360 lacks. The Blu-ray movies will pass 500...
With the lower priced 40GB PS3, holiday season, more game releases and strong sales of BD movies, the PS3 renewed momentum just started. Its November sales jumped 285% from October. December sales seems to be accelerated even more. The European sales is at 200k per week now. Sony projected 10 million units sold by 3/31/2008. It should be easily achieved. With the current rate, PS3 sales should easily pass 8 millions by year's end. More importantly, the PS3 game titles will be pouring i...
When 466K PS3 were sold in November, it also meant that 466K top notch 1080P Blu-ray players were sold. With the standalone BD players counted, it meant that 500K+ BD players had been poured into the market in November alone. It must send chill down to somebody's spine.
This is the sales number for the week ending on 11/10. The impact of 40GB PS3 will probably start showing in the next week's number. Japan introduced 40GB PS3 on 11/11. The sales number jumped 300% immediately.
then everybody is happy, well at least not so disappointed. :)
It is such a terrific bargain which is almost ridiculous. It will be the hottest gadget in the holiday season.
If you think the 80GB model sales jump is impressive, wait you see the release of 40GB on 11/2. You can purchase it at Sonystyle.com with $100 credit. It will be a tremendous bargain.

At $399, the PS3 is a tremendous bargain anyway you look at. If you use Wii ($249) to measure it, you only pay additional $150 for a Blu-ray disc player. If you use xbox 360 ($349) to measure it, you only pay additional $50 for a BD player. If you use xbox 360 Elite ($449) to measure it, you get a BD player for FREE plus a $50 cash rebate. It is such a bargain almost ridiculous. The included Spider man 3 plus 5 FREE BD movies promotion make it a no-brainer decision for the must have x'ma...
All the world major electronic manufacturers except Toshiba have all declared that Blu-ray is the ultimate future HD format. Daewoo, Dennon, Fujitsu, Funai, JVC, LG, Loewe, Lite-On, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Samsung, Sharp, Sony are declared backers to Blu-ray. Slew of players and recorders have been announced or shipped. Can you see the writings on the wall? It doesn't matter how you screaming or yelling or arguing it? Blu-ray is winning on merits - capacity (50gb, 100gb ...
PS3 will quickly become a world wide popular home HD media center - set-top box. It will take over lead by this time next year. HD gaming is only one part of PS3, Blu-ray will dominate the HD disc format and provides FREE on-line service. Its domination role will generate a lot of haters out there as expected -Nowell included.

The service will be launched in next month. PS3 is used as the set-top box for HD gaming, Blu-ray disc player, DVR and HD media program download. Imagine that Comcast and Time Warner would offer this service in US, it would be hugely popular.
PS3 is media center for home while Wii and xbox 360 are just game machines. PS3 has two machines built in one body - PS3 HD game console and Blu-ray disc player. When one PS3 game console is sold, one Blu-ray player is sold. They keep each other afloat. When PS3 was launched, it was the cheapest 1st generation BD player. Now 40gb PS3 is launched and became the cheapest 2nd generation BD player. It is a tremendous bargain anyway you look at. If use xbox 360 to measure it, $349 for the g...
With such a low price tag, Sony can really start pushing PS3. An Ad campaign slogan could be expected:
"When you get a PS3 game console for $399, you get a FREE 1080P Blu-ray Disc player!"
Sony's biggest mistake is that they are launching PS3 one year too late. It gives xbox 360 one year head start. Now though PS3 is behind xbox 360 in gaming but at least it has put Blu-ray on the map and beats HD DVD good. If it is launched one year later, Sony will lose in both the gameing console and the BD player format war. What is the writer thinking, really? It is ridiculous observation.
Blu-ray is fast becoming THE standard HD DVD format with Warner's gutsy visionary switch. That will move PS3 in a big way along with the out-pouring PS3 games in 2008. The accelerated momentum will grow impressively over the coming months.
