9 times out of 10 when gamers hear "beta" they think of a great chance to get in on a new and upcoming game to check it out and help get the bugs out. It helps test the multiplayer load on the servers (i.e. Uncharted 2 or Resistance 2) or it even helps with determining statistic collecting during the game to see what gamers do and how fast it takes to get items.

Good stuff Chris399. I haven't ever backed up my PS3 but hearing all of this, as well as reading the article has me a little concerned. I know the PS3 is a little more stable, but it would be nice to keep all of my game saves and stuff intact!
Definitely see the value here. Gotta love it when all of those developer videos and gameplay trailers hit all at the same time, I can download all of them at once. Now to just bump up my damn internet connection to accomodate this! It took me almost 2 hours to download and install firmware 3.00 yesterday!

Wow! I had no idea this was all happening so fast! I just got attached to my fat PS3! Guess its time for the "upgrade" to the slimmer younger model.....:P
I'd probably have to pick up the PS3 version IF I purchased this game. My buddy has over 350 something games under his belt in Madden 09 and no signs of stopping going into Madden 10. Me on the other hand, I'm looking forward to NHL 10.....
I'm not much of a football gaming fan, but for some reason the players looked a little cartoony and weren't very proportional? I could definitely tell the graphics and lighting effects have been improved, and my dear lord the tackling was a LOT better, but just something how the players looked was a little off.....
Ah, I see. These are more bragging rights than anything. I beat Gears of War 2 on Insane with just a water pistol! The only people getting these are those who will be staging them......

I'm with you guys, I have a feeling that DLC is coming to BF:1943. Even with as big a name as EA behind it, I still run into a few issues where the game seems to have trouble rendering or drawing the map in areas. I don't know if it is the game or on the server side, but hopefully a patch and DLC is coming.......
