this doesn't seem like a bad idea to be honest. There really isn't much need to upgrade (especially if you have backwards compatible) but if for some reason your ps3 is taking up too much space... buying a slim for 150 bucks isn't too bad... but overall pointless to do.

haha, dude, I love my PS3 and have supported them from the get go. I love the PSP as well, but this re-re-release of the system isn't pushing the system forward like it needs to... much like the DSi which was crap honestly but is selling remarkably well. Soccer moms and little kids will buy anything.

i need foods that wont make a mess on my controller or myself, so anything non greasy and non powdery(like chips) will do just fine.

I personally think it's the time to buy if you don't have one, as long as you think the exclusives will be worth owning (future exclusives as well) and you want a blu-ray player (the cost of blu-rays are going down though)
