Precisely.
I echo this.
It's not the act of giving something away for free that I disagree with, it's the fact that it has to happen in the first place and that developers think it's okay to just use this to compensate for any glaring errors with their product, rather than actually fixing it.
Just one thing I'd like to point out. It's easy to say "oh, the devs should not release the game if it's broken - that way we wouldn't need all these patches", but these days it's the publishers who really push for these games to be released on time, so I think you have to give the developers the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Harsh deadlines are just part of business and it's the reason that games get released in a bad way therefore requiring updates. If th...
Absolutely right. I referenced Driveclub in this article, and I'm not sure if you're aware of it but you should check out videogamer.com's review of the game because they have now updated it and changed the score three times due to patches!
You could certainly argue that, but I think if a product is on the shelves and available to the public it has to be reviewed in some shape or form, otherwise who knows what you're buying!
Likewise, but right now anything Need for Speed related will do me fine. I wonder if Codemasters are working on anything big too.
Oh absolutely. That was awesome, as was the quest where you were stranded in the middle of the ocean if you walked onto one of the ships. Good times :)
It certainly has had great success, and that's not surprising, but that doesn't mean that we should agree with essentially the same cash-grab being shipped out year after year, regardless of how good it is.
That's a good shout, but what's the point in E3 if everything's online before the event takes place?
PGR4 was my first Xbox 360 game! Yeah it's a shame that Bizarre had to close, but some of the folk went to work at Playground Games who made the brilliant Forza Horizon.
Notice how I used the word "slipped" up. I'm talking in the past tense. I think they have slipped up with the launch of the PS4, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm saying that they will slip up in the future. I hope this clears things up.
Thanks for the feedback!
@cl1983:
"we" is DigiBytes - it's pretty obvious.
Thanks for getting me to the top of the preview page! :D
Thanks for all the feedback! I know some of you are clearly in a state of dismay over the article, but the whole point of opinion pieces is to create discussion, to create argument - this makes me realize that I've succeeded in that task.
What you must also keep in mind is that my opinion is my own, I never said that any of you had to agree with it - just that you respect it. It's great that some of you disagree with the points I made - it means you've really, pro...
Couldn't agree more. I appreciate that the developers may not understand the western kind of UI as much, but for a pad with analogue sticks, it just seems so wrong.
Let me know why you think it's a huge improvement!
Tell me why!
Hell yeah, free DLC for the win!
