I remember them saying the split screen in Motor-storm 1 would never happen simply because they had built their engine totally wrong for it. (And not figured out that this was a problem that could not be fixed before it was too late)
So I think this is a completely new engine or they have built the old one up from the start and this time fixing the fundamentals that causes the problems in the first one.

Gears was not a 2007 game and if you ask me, nothing has surpassed it on the 360. Espeacially when it comes to multiplayer gameplay.
I'm sure gears will be out by November. My guess is that they have been working on this one for about a year now.
I predict a huge spike in this weeks PS3 sales numbers.

A new great game every year now 3 years in a row.
There is no way that would be possible if they had to do two versions.
Plus a multiplatform is always only as good as the weakest console.
360 is weaker in many areas and the PS3 also has a couple of weaknesses that the 360 doesn't have.
I doubt that this is true.
But who knows, it would be a great move for Sony, one that they should have made 3-4 years ago, when it would have been much easier and cheaper.

I have both consoles.
The first year I bought about 10-12 X360 games. (I'm on my 3rd 360, 2 RRoD)
Since I got my PS3 I have bought 2 X360 games (BioShock,Halo 3). The next X360 game I will buy is Gears of War 2.
I have bought all the multi platform for my PS3 simply because it's a better console with better hardware/future/innovation that I want to support.
I have no problem with MicroSoft and I don't love Sony.
But I support ...

We can look at it from your angle, and you might be right.
But there is another angle.
MS was willing to pay $50mill even though it did not guarantee them a lot of content, because they wanted to do anything just to have the superior/complete version. To try and make PS2 owners switch to the 360 instead of the PS3.

I can do this with my PS3 control.

In shooters I use my index finger for both R1 and R2.
I don't know any shooter where you can use them both at once.
Other games yes, shooters no.
I just want the Gears of war layout.
I think that was perfect. Uncharted wasn't bad either.
Of course it needs to be saved.
Just look at the sales. They are nothing compared to consoles.
Only a few games do well on PC. But most do really poorly.
Lets see what this does for the PS3.
I think 10% is way understated. I'm thinking somewhere around 25%.
