I think they are great collectibles, but that is not want Nintendo wants. They want a foothold in the toy market... not the collectible one.
Thanks for the heads up! We will be giving a couple of their other games a review in the coming weeks. We will also be getting The Deer God on Wii U when it is released. Hopefully they've spruced it up by then.
Do it! Spread the good word :D
While I don't necessarily disagree with this, I think it is a little reductionist. If people are going to be paying extra for DLC (AKA what used to be a whole game's worth of content), they might as well get something physical out of deal.
What Nintendo needs to do, is make the DLC worth the purchase to justify the plastic figure.
Nintendo teamed up with Skylanders for a vehicle line of toys. It was a limited time thing.
I don't think this needs to change either either. I can see Samus exploring the galaxy with 2 or 3 assistant bots. Each bot can be upgraded over time to fill certain jobs. Of course, an Awakening style perma death could be toggled for the bots. Through out the galaxy could be small trading posts, or aliens that live in isolation who would be willing to trade with Samus or own a store. Of course, having limited supplies would make your bounty runs much more suspenseful.
I don't think anything needs to change about the game except for the addition of development trees. Think Metroid Prime with the story and customization of Skyrim.
Definitely give it a look!
I love the newer retro inspired titles like Shovel Knight. The eShop is where it's at.
I know what you mean! Many of them feel dark and dingy too. This one is amazing.
I laughed the first time the batter yelled at me for striking out. I wish they would have added more player reactions.
I remember not really liking this game as a kid. Playing again as an adult though gave me some real appreciation for it!
As we sat down to play and write about it the first thing we noticed were the sound FX and the music score. I didn't remember it sounding so good! Combine all the sounds with the speed in some of those levels, especially the asteroid fields, and you get a very chaotic experience.
How awesome would it be to get an HD remaster of this game?
Thanks! :)
Sorry to get your hopes up! Maybe it will come back.
It really does boil down to games, whether old or new, third party or first, Nintendo needs games.
I would like to think the well has run dry on the Wii U because it was pronounced dead internally before Christmas 2015. Everything they have done has only served to squeeze every penny possible from the system. They are hedging their bets on the NX, saving games for a stellar launch lineup.
That's what I am hoping anyways.
