the small production line for DEV KITS, as the HDD is smaller... I recon it's a legit picture.... although never under-estimate the power of photoshop.
... beta testing isn't about dumping the game onto 500,000 users at once and watching your servers fail coz you didn't set them up correctly first time. It makes sense for a phased release.
As it's a multiplayer beta test only (no campaign) it's primarily about server testing but also about matchmaking etc - and if that doesn't work correctly as expected, first time, I'm sure microsoft would prefer to fix it for 15,000 instead of having 500,000 screaming at them.
they've been changing it recently - here's one that should work - https://uverse1.att.com/Oms...
... not just the PS3. Good news for all concerned, just a little editing bias - in that neither you, nor the linked news mentions the 360 or Wii.
quote from havok's website... "Havok announces today the official release of Havok 4.5, the latest update to its modular suite of artist tools and run-time technology. Fully optimized for Sony PLAYSTATION®3, as well as Microsoft Xbox360 and Nintendo Wii."
... coz the ps3 is a big pain to code for.
.... that MS doesn't screw the vast majority of people out of the free halo 3 beta keys (via registration method) just to sell a ton more copies of crackdown, coz that's the only reason I'm getting it (after playing the demo)
it's be being developed on the ps3 and 360 at the same time - that doesn't necessarily make it a port... why don't you think the 360 version is a port and they're dev'ing it first on the ps3? (oh, yes, that's coz the ps3 is a nightmare to code for, i forgot).... besides, have any of you guys tried to port a game between two wildly different h/w architectures?... thought not. please go out and learn something about game development before you post messages about game development. (and yes, bef...
... but that's not difficult.
wow! - how booooring!.
remember an e3 video'of pre-rendered 'gameplay' showing cars spinning out and breaking up.... BS as usual.
I guess the ps3 cant handle that with 'the rain' turned on. lol
the ps3 simply hasn't got the memory and cpu punch to output in-game high-def visuals like those touted in the screenshots (and neither can the 360 btw) - you folks are poorly misguided, unfortunately.... check out recent in-game video - http://www.youtube.com/watc...
- then I'll be impressed. I've played the current releae of this game and it looks nothing like these stills. I'm not out to slam any game system - it just saddens me when people get misled by the pre-rendered stuff (killzone 2) being sold as in-game.... that can only lead to disappointment when you give up your money to buy the game and actually play something very different.
the pre-rendered movies are looking good - those have nothing to do with the in-game game graphics. no more fan-boy posts please!!!
don't forget you can get the extremely capable 360 for $299 - that's really amazing value for what you'd spend today for a 2nd rate graphics card for a PC. I got out the the PC cash-drain-game about 4 years ago when games started needing 2gig+ of drive space, 512Mb+ RAM and $400 graphics cards, and that was before the woes of having an outdated cpu (not so easy to upgrade that)..... and I haven't looked back since.
I'm predicting that the 360 will probably get dx10 (via a system update) in the fall O/S update.... that's the beauty of it's open architecture with the hardware horsepower to support these software upgrades.
... I agree, but it's not a fair comparison... rest assured, H3 graphics won't be crappy - and you know bungie will nail the gameplay and multiplayer. Even a recent build is looking sexy by the looks of those snippets from iraq.
... even though we've seen virtually nothing of this game so far, I get the feeling that this game is gonna live up to my high expectations. Roll on Multiplater Beta !!!
lag may be a factor for USA players if this is mostly for UK players, so I would suggest splitting the leagues by location to avoid that.
It's a shame GoW's online options are pitifully sparse - clans and leagues would have been a great addition
- at least Bungie knows how to create a good MP environment (roll on Halo 3!) - maybe Epic can learn from them and include better MP options in 2007 updates/DLC.
... will ignore the 'work in progress' note and comment on how the graphics are not as good as they expected. See ya online at 2am PST. :)
.... as a lot of game dev goes on in California... $75000 is not much of a pay check in San Franciso for instance + game development is generally much more intense than other commercial programming jobs, requiring some crazy long days and very late nights as deadlines approach. etc etc etc.
