Sony must have taken notice with all the extra money MS was making with Live and decided that their user base would be more than willing to also pay to play online.
Which makes me even more convinced that the only reason PSN was free for the PS3 was to have an edge and compete with Xbox 360.
It is especially strange that this topic isn't brought up more often or we don't get as many articles as we used to about "Why are gamers paying for..."...
Wow, those old school beat 'em up games for the Super Nintendo were awesome. I still remember Death of Superman and Spider-Man/Venom game, fun for hours with a friend.

There are too many examples of Japanese developers taking their IP's and "westernizing" them to appeal to a wider audience. They usually tend to lose that charm that made their games fun or appealing in the first place.
Platinum has made some very cool games that I feel didn't cater to anyone but kept to their unique brand of action, style and humor. Games like Bayonetta, Vanquish, Madworld and The Wonderful 101.

I doubt that too many people don't have internet speeds fast enough to handle streaming. And internet speeds are getting faster as more and more services are providing all digital/streaming services.

I trust Platinum, they have made some of the best games I have ever played for the past consoles. I really hope that this game has their over the top action and wacky sense of humor found in their past games.

This is the one game they should be going out of their way to bring back. Perfect Dark 0 wasn't bad but it was a super early launch title and it had some great ideas but wasn't executed very well.
I think it's time this franchise had another shot to shine.

HaydenJameSmith is right, just not to long ago X1 and their fans were ripped apart when Deadrising 3 and Ryse went to PC. All of a sudden they weren't "exclusives" anymore. But now that Sony has not only embraced PC indie games and have a couple of their own exclusives also heading to PC now it seems that saying "console exclusive" is okay, and no one bats an eye.

I can remember even further back when Titanfall was announced and most of the Sony crowd was screaming 'money hatting" and how MS was killing the video game industry.
