Indeed. They've set the bar pretty high on this one. It does sound pretty promising though.
Things are still pretty bleak. At least amongst the people I know. People with 1st's, PHD's and Masters degrees are all struggling to find work. Less than a third of the people I went to Uni with are in employment.
The evolution of gaming seems to be a bit of a double edged sword. Yes, stories lines have improved, for the most part, but at the same time a lot of modern titles just feel like interactive films. I think a certain charm has been lost along the way.
Most social critique style pieces reported by the media are sensationalised. Sadly news is entertainment. Conjuring up ideas of depraved violence and terrible ramifications is far more entertaining than simply stating "everything is fine...move along".
Ludicrous. I appretiate that Microsoft put in a lot effort into policing online activities but the fact that they're charging for online play at all is ridiculous. Especially since their competitors don't. I don't think they justify raping their fanbase further.
If this is implimented, along with the musings of placing a subscription fee for playing COD online, I guess I can wave goodbye to online 360 gaming.
Whilst most people don't really buy a Wii game with graphics in mind, this is actually quite a pretty game. My only major peave is that the camera system is truely terrible.
Since the days of the SNES I've been quite an avid follower of the Harvest Moon series. It's just one of those marmite-esque titles that you either love or hate...I don't think there's much middle ground.
Very true. I have very little interest in the series nowadays. Although if the rumor floating around concerning multiplayer carries any weight, it might just be what it needs.
Aye, I wanna get me that code. The last game was awesome.
It was nice to get some incite into the minds behind an excellent game.
Good review. This addition is such an approvement on the last title.
From a psychological point of view - without the restrictions of the super ego we're free to cause mass destruction and wreckless crimes. Knowing that the virtual world doesn't have real world implications, we're free to explore our innate desires.
From a gamer's perspective - How awesome is the destruction system in Red Faction? :)
Good article. Publishers are indeed an essential part of gaming. I reakky don't think they deserve all the bad press they recieve. Think of them as the designated driver of the gaming world. Thwarting bad or over-ambitious ideas and getting the rabble safely from A to B.
I have a lot respect for EA. The sheer amount of effort they put into their advertising campaigns is very commendable. "Mass we Pray", The Tiger Woods Jesus Shot, the Spore miniature billboard. Pure gen...
This is a phenomenal game. The demonisation of the game's graphic scenes and threat of boycotts doesn't seemed to have put a dent in its success. The only major criticism I have is that there isn't really a good sense of pacing. It has a very "full speed ahead" philosophy, not easing you into the action like the previous title.
Good review. This is one of those titles I'm itching to get my hands on. Sadly, with all the christmas presents I need to fork out for, I'm just gonna have to wait. Bah humbug...
The amount of ridiculous new laws that are coming to pass recently are insane. The FCC seems to be stepping on a lot of toes with its plans to restrict internet access, many children's book authors are refusing to go to schools after new laws mean that they have to be extensively checked.
The internet is the last true place where one can impliment 'freedom of speech' and even this seems to be slowly taken away from us. In the words of the Kaiser Chiefs 'I predict a riot'.
I've never really understood why people mock others for gaming failures. They are after all ment for entertainment value. I have just over 20,000 points but what do these really do for me? Nothing.
It might feel nice to here that bleep and see the little grey box pop up after a tough section. But in all honesty that's all it is. Occasionally there might be a fun achievement challenge but playing the game for the game's sake alone should come first.
If I wrote the history of gaming up to the point of the DS debut, I'd still be working on it now :P
The point I was trying to make was that Nintendo lost their monopoly on the American market because they waited far too long to implement some improvements. The Playstation was on the market for 2 years before the N64 made its debut. I wasn't trying to belittle Nintendo or claim that they'd failed. It just wasn't a one horse race any more.
Regardless of any loyalties, ...
The only dlc that disapointed me with Fallout was Mothership Zeta. It was, unfortunately, pretty weak compared to what came before it.
Everything else was pure gold.
I second that. It's one of the best indie games out there and truely deserves the bucket of awards that it's been given. It took them a while but I'm glad it's finally available to PS3 gamers.
