these "new" mechanics were used in the Bloodrayne games on the PS2
since posting the list of exclusives for both consoles now it's overkill and a little emberrising, let's start getting this into people heads:
PS3 sold 47.9 million in 4 years (average 12 million a year)
360 sold 50.7 million in 5 years (average 10 million a year)
these are official numbers from both Sony and Microsoft ending on dec 2010, so by this time next year PS3 will be ahead and that's long before the next gen arrives, after th...
North America is the largest market but is not larger than the rest of the world put together
only is US, PS3 and its games are selling just fine
GT5 sold 6 million games in six weeks
you're wrong abour #6, as far as Microsoft concerns Kinect is "next gen 720"
they don't need to spend millions to develope and release a new console because casuals don't care about graphics
and cosnidering how terrible MS is with hardware they are probably relieved by this
also there's no doubt the PS3 will overtake the 360 on the second place
PS3 sold 47.9 million in 4 years (average 12 million a year)
360 sold 50.7 million in 5 years (average 10 million a year)
even last year with Kinect and its 500 million dollar camapaign PS3 outsold the 360 just like every other year its been on the market
so with all the exclusives PS3 has this year it might happen even faster than what the previous yea...
I think the best way to determine what will happen is to read what people were saying of the PS3 around 2007/2008
I remember reading that Sony was going to cancel the PS3, that Sony was going to leave gaming altogether, that no good games going to be released for the PS3 anymore, that Sega might step back to in its place to compete with the 360, that the whole company (not only the gaming division) was going to close and more stuff like that
and all that ...
maybe this is meant as a response to the Resident Evil 6 timed exclusivity rumours
PS3 total sales 47.9 million in 4 years
360 total sales 50.7 million in 5 years
PS3 average is 12 million a year
360 average is 10 million a year
and even with Kinect and its 500 million ad campaign PS3 outsold the 360 last year including the holiday season
so by late 2011 or early 2012 PS3 will be ahead, and that's a long time before the next generation arrives, so PS3 will have plenty of time to strech the gap
they're just saying that because they know for sure that it will happen, so they say it's not big deal
the title says that it leaked the name and details, what details?
it is defeat, Killzone/Resistance are more than Halo, Unchated is more than Gears, GT is more than Forza
and there's God of War, LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, Motorstorm, Metal Gear, Infamous and more games that don't have direct exclusive competition on the 360
because despite the fact that there're no rumours, MS doesn't have studios to create games that can be rumored
Fable 3 is on the recent past so it sould be at least 2 years for a new game Lionhead, Epic (which is third party) has Gears, Bungie went multiplat, Bizarre closed, Rare is busy with Kinect shovelware, and the Forza studio is making Forza 4, and that's it
in terms of exclusives 360 is now more casual than the Wii
(metroid other m, skyward sword, goldeneye, the conduit 2, etc)
Sony knows better than this, with the money it would take to convice Capcom they could produce a new AAA exclusive or create a new studio
on the other hand, I would believe this if it were a full exclusive that would take advantage of the PS3's power to do things that can't be done on the 360
EDIT: what Dragun619 wrote makes more sense, if they include Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles on the blu ray with Move support that would make the PS3...
I will buy it and play it on my living room wearing only a man-thong
"Just like its predecessor, as a technological demonstration of the power of Sony hardware, Killzone 3 is a hugely impressive piece of work. But what makes this game so special is that the core gameplay experience is just so strong: in the midst of battle, nothing looks like it, nothing plays quite like it. For PlayStation 3 owners it really is a must-buy. "
word
Digital Foundry is an excellent site
it's so great to read stuff written by someone who actually knows a lot of what he's writing about, which is very unusual in gaming journalism
from the article:
"In revamping the control scheme, Guerrilla was faced with an unenviable task. In many ways, Killzone 2 felt more realistic than the average shooter and the control system played an important part in that. You "felt" the weight of Sev's equipment weighing him down, you felt the inertia in every move he made, and this tied in extremely well with the game's animation, and the movement on-screen as you were running and jumping."
...
actually the story that continues is not Dead Space 2's but Dead Space Extraction
but, you know, whatever
it's time to get a PSN card for this, Bioshock 2's expansion, Journey and Mass Effect 2 Arrival
