Also You forgot Sony still supports 4 platforms (I know PSP is about to expire), while MS got 2 and probably gonna abandon x360 next year.
Playstation, WiiU, PC, handhelds and tons of various tablets/mobiles/androids is enough of competition.

8th gen brings us closer to photorealism than we would ever expect.

Main reason why I have never liked Xbox, was the lack of JRPGS. Bring more exclusives like Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey and You can make tides turn, although unlikely.
Stop mentioning D4, nearly nothing is known about it, its the same as mentioning The Last Guardian.
OT: MS does not have variety of amazing 1st party studios, of course they must rely on the little yet best they got.
And theres no other mascots for Xbox besides Master Chief, both Nintendo and Sony got tons of them now.
