Last week at the GAME managers conference in London it was announced that the first stage of the dashboard update would be released on the 25th of September. This will include the visual overhaul and avatars etc. What won't be included straight away is the expanded movie rental service.
But yeah, according to the Microsft reps at the conference it's coming September 25th.

Previously rumoured? The preorder posters for the 80GB PS3 with August 22nd as it's release date, have been sitting right next to the 40GB bundles for the last week and a half in my local GAME store, which I assume means it's been in all of their stores.

This thread and all of the fanboy bile being spewed everywhere, really does make a convincing argument for getting rid of scores in reviews completely. Read the actual words the these magazine reviewers have written. That's where you'll find out what the reviewer really thinks of the game, and hopefully, if the review is written intelligently you'll have a better understanding of whatever game is being reviewed.
Let that be discussed, not these stupid numbers.

This thread is discussing the latest issue (179), which arrived on many subscribers doorsteps this morning. As you can see, the only game which got a 9 was Phantom Hourglass. Lair was not reviewed this month.
If this story was simply saying that the Next Xbox would play Xbox 360 games and in addition to the features that are employed in backwards compatability today; such as better anti aliasing and upscaling resolution, that it would introduce features exclusive to the Next Xbox ie Control mechanism, improved performance, integrated system features, then that would be really cool.
