They didn't optimize it, or it has yet to be optimized. Also, we don't know how late or soon they have gotten dev kits.

Both the PS4 and Xbox One versions will more than likely be higher than 720p. As for the medium settings thing, that's kind of expected since we aren't paying a great sum of money like we would if we were buying high end PCs. I do think it's because they're focusing on bringing it to PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One, and PC that they aren't able to optimize it for high settings. They're just scaling it, making a few changes here and their and getting it ready in time for consol...
You actually bring up a very good point. The reason other FPS' don't sell as much as COD is that they have learning curves. People don't want to take their time and learn the game, they just want to jump right in.
Sony Santa Monica is the one to do it, but they have their hands full right now.

More games(other than racers) should go this route. 1080p 60FPS for multiplayer, and 1080p 30fps for single player. It makes both sides happy, it shuts up the people complaining that they want 60fps and the devs get to achieve their graphics fidelity goals.

You and I are a little different friend, I usually get my games on disc because I like having the actually case in my library of games. I have no problem downloading games digitally, but I usually buy my games on disc most of the time(ordered online).
Those are some very good specifications, I don't know why people were running around saying that the next generation consoles were "off the shelf" parts. Pretty much, the next generation console's CPU and GPU is being created by AMD, but each company specifies how their individual parts want to function to suit their needs. Then AMD makes customized APUs with a very easy to use architecture. That's the reason why developers praise next generation consoles, but both APUs ...

The Xbox One is was not even weak in the first place, it's just that the PS4 has more power than it. The people saying the Xbox One was weak in terms of hardware were just blowing it out of proportion, both are fit for the term of "next generation consoles".
When he says the PS4 is the better console, I think he means in terms of raw power. In my opinion though, the PS4 is the best choice that suits my needs.
