the sad thing is that for some kinds of games this could be true, not for the claim of accuracy though, like the Sims and Space games where you need to select things in 3D. the argument can be made that with mouse you need to rotate your perspective before you can select etc. that might not be true of Kinect.
It is easy to dismiss this article as PR nonsense but for the games I'd like to make and play kinect would offer an intuitive interface option for interacting with a...
and even then there's more arm movement and your hands/fingers are in the way. multi-touchpad is somewhat the best solution if you don't have a mouse. Where if you have a multi-touch track pad you can use a combination of all your fingers for tracking and selecting and doing actions..
the dumbest part is that MS HAS Surface already.. taking that interface and making a lapboard for the console and windows out of it would be a good alternate investment of $150.
@nickjkl
yep there's always 1 article a day that makes me go ohnohedidn't
I was like yeah ok buddy should me someone on Kinect beat a starcraft II game, or play Zuma. can't be done.
'you are the controller' is not a marketing line for an additive interface. and again, these things are irrelevant without games that actually DO use kinect in an intuitive manner, one that doesn't have you dropping the controller to do a gesture or leaving it out of the experience entirely.
i.e. you can't rely on microsoft and to leverage the available platforms out there, they need to dip into tried and true favorites.
not half as important as expanding the franchise into film(s) and eventually television. that audience doesn't give a shit about the game or ultra slow elevators.
It has to be VERY good to make a dent in the sci-fi movie realm, better than all that JJ Abrams flashy action packed sexy stuff and Joss Whedon flashy action packed sexy and smart stuff..
for that Microsoft would actually have to pay them.. or lift the lid off the box and toss some food in.
but seriously.. it isn't like they've been sitting on their fat lazy asses for 6 years doing nothing. They are a marketing toolbox.
Heather Vandeven.. really? as if I wasn't already going to buy it.
looks interesting as long as it is as easy to figure it out.
but what it reminds me of is the first burnout.. but modern. If they are right the game might well worth be playing and might change your opinions about driving games.
I'm wondering if FROM would be willing to make these 3D eventually
It isn't forward compatible as far as hardware and using USB and a low resolution cameras. The next console needs a new sensor plain and simple. So does windows for that matter so that you aren't a muddy texture on a blob but a crisp image on an object that looks like a person. Ditto for anything else the Kinect needs to recognize and interact with later at a distance (fingers, eyes, toys etc).
which is the argument the motion control people are trying to make and failing at it hard.
Yes there is hardware, but the tracking software is also important. They are version the tracking software but misspoke when saying it makes it Kinect 2 all of a sudden. No. They've just made the software better and should have stopped right there.
The rest of us are still waiting for a better camera, faster connection and integrated processor so the device can be s...
LBP3 free 2 play on PS4 would be cool.
IF it was a free SimCity 5 game in HTML5 I'd be all over it, as part of Google+
but it isn't.. so the hate.
Trully though the rush hour pack where you could drive was fun, several years after that, having all kinds of other vehicles in a level maker.. total win and a great direction for the franchise(s) that EA is obviously willing to play with instead of making more PC and console blockbuster titles with.

I was thinking Kameo 2 would have been a great Kinect 2 launch title.
exactly my first thought.
it won't be here until the connector (USB3/thunderbolt) and cameras (WUXGA or higher) are upgraded.
a driver update (unless you're ATI) doesn't revolutionize the platform.
and if the rumours are to be believed Xbox 3 will also be powered by Cell.
correction, it has 'blasters'. PewPew!!! (Kevin Smith voice)
no, Sesame Street is more mature than Star Wars.
