If anything, they'll come pre-equipped with some NAND flash I think
A cookie for you sir!
No cookie for you!
Anything you want!
First person to scream SONY FANBOY gets a cookie. First person to scream MICROSOFT FANBOY gets a cookie. :)
Your first mistake is that the DS uses ARM8, where they really use ARM9. And it is safe to assume the 3DS will have ARM9 hardware as well. The original DS was clocked at 67 MHz, the DSi at 133 Mhz. They can take the ARM9 as high as 600 MHz if they want, so there is still a lot of headroom left.
Your second mistake is the assumption that it will run at 200 MHz as if it were a fact. There is no indication of what speed the chip will run at, whether 200 or 400 or 100 or 600 or w...
Found the latest clock speeds and performance. Updating AGAIN
That's me in the GAF thread ;)
I am rewriting this article as new information comes in, and I perform more testing on the PSP.
You're right, it is safe to assume they are going to clock it at least 400 MHz, but probably no higher. Unfortunately it's not easy to draw a conclusion with these numbers just yet. So all we can do is comment on the MINIMUM performance is going to be :)
The article was just updated to include the 2008 specs.
Its close to a PSP, but it still has to fill a 0.5 megapixel screen.
Been going to every E3 since 2001, and have played 3D video games since 2000. Didn't go this year due to prior obligations.
If you want to base your opinions on how much the audience clapped and awed, go for it. Me, I pay more attention to the actual games.
"By Gamers who Hate Games"
That's the point. It was great because they focused on actual games and not casual dust collectors and more dumb accessories.
I have that shirt! King Of Games FTW ;)

For games, you won't notice a difference since their native resolutions are low enough for Composite bandwidth to be totally sufficient.
But for anything that is true HDTV (1080p), you are definitely going to want a pure digital connection.
I think the argument isn't about "hardcore or not hardcore" it's about what games would I want to play. Nobody is mad, nobody is upset. We were all hoping for them to take a step forward, not just rehash Wii games.
Go watch Nintendo's conference, it's amazing how much it's the opposite of Microsoft's. Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Epic Mickey, Goldeneye.. All GAMES that we want to play. They might use wii controls, but the important par...
She was super cute, and a great actor. But the licking part was just awkard.
And you're right, Kinect isn't for us.
This makes Natal look like a silly toy
And go right to the real-world benchmarks.
Of course, the results are relatively the same anyway, as long as multitasking is heavy. Which is where Windows 7 gets much of its performance from, and what this article stated.
Clock speed means NOTHING if you are comparing two completely different architectures.
The thing in the picture is the SSD used in the article :)
