Treyarch come up with new stuff in every one of their recent games and support them well. For expample their inclusion of zombies in W@W was revolutionary, then they moved to a cold war setting - away from WW2 - and then gave lots of imaginative zombies DLC on top of that. IW have kept to Modern Warfare and have added only a spec ops mode, which is fun but has little replay value, while keeping everything else the pretty much same.

Considering a lot of game content is sold to you separately these days and new ip's are getting rarer (e.g. generally fewer development costs as they can recycle items and easily get feedback), yes they are.

I mainly bought that though due to a lack of substitutes on other platforms. As you said, Gears would be the most wanted one here due to the lack of substitutes for a 3rd-person shoot-em-up.
Personally, I would only want Gears and maybe Alan Wake. That's because the PS3 has substitutes for the others which satisfy me enough to not "desperately" want a 360.
That's a gripe I have. Too many buildings and alleyways render the AC-130 and Osprey Gunner less effective than they should be. I seem to be relying almost entirely on splash damage.
I actually want the older maps in the DLC.
I know people hate recycling, but the MW3 maps are awful compared to the classics of MW and MW2.
I'd especially like highrise and terminal :P
