I think they made an improved engine over the current one, and now owns the rights of it.
While Treyarch was developing World at War, they had time to improve the engine.
For being their first HD-game ever, I think it looks pretty darn good.

Most of those games are not new IPs.
Modern Warfare 2 still looks pretty good, but Black Ops looks like utter shit.
But yeah, even the MW2-engine is starting to dry out. Would be cool to see something that can compete with Frostbite.
