this game is in no way "filler". it's a one-off reboot of the original survival horror style RE games.
it's not "a new direction" for the series.
they already tried the game and it didn't sell well, then after that they've released Operation Raccoon City and RE:6, which were also not taken well, so we suspect they're leaving the series on hiatus for now.

the PS4 should be coming out a couple months after GTA 5's initial release so most people will have built up a big save file by then.
