I'm honestly starting to think it's taking so long, because they're making it on a brand new engine. That, plus they're waiting for next-gen consoles that could handle it - the new PlayStation and Xbox. Considering those probably won't come out until fall 2013 or early 2014, you can pretty much get an idea when Half-Life 3 will be coming out as well. I'm perfectly fine with that timeframe.
