@MasterCornholio
You are correct in saying its not dying but, the last of us Is going to pretty much be the ps3's peak potential. We need a new console generation because without one games will continue to look the same. Never the less I imagine the ps3 will probably be doing well until at least Christmas.
They're not that high spec. Consoles aren't pushing the industry enough in terms of technology anymore. This next gen will be determined by optimized software rather then hardware. This is mostly due to that fact that people won't buy expensive consoles.
I'd pretty much have to agree with just about all of your points. However a price drop isn't very likely. Nintendo is already losing money on each console sold. Also there is so much inaccurate information surrounding the Wii U at the moment. Come e3 when the next consoles come out and they aren't that far of a step up i think people might get off their high horses and stop calling it outdated technology. However the good news of this situation is they pretty much have no where to...
The hardware is not "cheap" considering they're already losing money on each console sold.
Yeah Nintendo is a great company but everyone makes mistakes I hope that they can fix this. This is also why I prefer to not download games.
Actually when running games its most efficient to have the gpu do as much work as possible(ever since gpgpus came out). The cpu is much less important then the gpu nowadays. Also the ram is very important as well.
I rather like assassin's creed but they can't seem to get the climax of their main story lines to be very good. In fact in 3 after doing all of the homestead missions I felt the last homestead mission wrapped up the game better then the main story. Also the Desmond parts were always really boring to me.
@bicfitness
I'm afraid your information is wrong. You shouldn't look up articles if you want accurate info. It also doesn't help that eurogamer is a bit biased. If you want real information go look around the neogaf forums, because these articles take information from them. Actually even digital foundry jumped the gun with their info as well and they're usually a reliable source. The cpu isn't massively weaker but it is weaker. Clock speed is actually a pr...
You do realize that Nintendo had cutting edge hardware in 4 out of the 6 console gens they've been in. If they wanted to make a powerful console again they could, would it benefit them in the long run.... probably not.
@Donnieboi
I honestly don't remember enough to compare but you are probably right, however all the consoles of this coming generation will have that advantage. Mainly because consoles aren't really pushing hardware technology at all anymore. However it will still take a little while for developers to get used to coding for them. I have taken apart my wii u and ran a few simple tests on it and it is very different from what hardware we're using today. Maybe not as ...
All consoles and pcs have their strong and weak points. However, you're always going to find something you like just a little bit more then everything else. Thats just who you are. I try to remain neutral on a lot of things but its pretty much impossible to be neutral. Also alot of what you like about video games can be based on your first console or game, because it may sound a bit odd but gaming changes how you think. I've always been a bit biased toward nintendo and one of my first...
@Donnieboi
I'd have to disagree with you. When i got my xbox 360 7-8 years ago none of the games looked any better then what was on the gamecube or original xbox. There is also distinct differences in the wiiu's hardware then last gen. We can only fully realize what consoles can do with time. You can't accurately compare something to something else without knowing how each thing works. Also power alone will never dictate the difference in gens and also hardware is only as ...
@ShinMaster
You should probably get nintendo land. A lot of people went ahead and got new super mario bros u but its not very different from the other ne super mario bros games. However nintendo land was a different story, I ended up bringing it to my friend's new years party and for about 4 hrs all we played was one of the minigames from it. As for single player games i went and waited to buy darksiders 2, Its pretty much the same as all the other versions of the game but the gam...
@NintyJazz
There are a few of us here but most people that play all consoles(and pc) only concern themselves with actual game announcements
Highly doubt they would drop the price seeing as they stated they were losing money on the actual console itself when it was released, however I could be wrong because nintendo logic. Also the gamepad doesn't exactly seem as expensive to make as everyone is talking about, but when they sell them individually they probably will hike up the price to make a profit.
This is true but they've kinda realized at this point that they've lost a lot of core gamer support. They'll still announce plenty at e3 because lots of investors look at e3. In the last Nintendo direct they practically stated that they have lots to talk about at e3. In terms of games actually coming out before Q4 we'll have to see about that.
There will also probably going to be news on ssb too. If Sony and Microsoft announce good games too then i will personally be ecstatic.
It would be really nice if it was 399$ However it probably would only be 30-50% more powerful then the wiiu at most. That is still a good bit more powerful but it might disappoint a lot of people. Honestly software makes the console so we'll see what comes of this =].
Funny because if they actually read the forum then they would have possibly noticed that we have no clue what 30-40% of the gpu is. It could even possibly be more shaders which would bump the power to around 5000 series possibly even 6000, and again, the cpu is also still a complete mystery. Its not just 3 broadway cores slapped together. The cpu looks to be heavily customized by amd.
@medziarz
There is also a point to that being that Nintendo isn't trying to just satisfy the Nintendo gamers. They're trying to back to the good old days where all gamers played on their consoles. Honestly I'd like things to go back to when gamers were gamers, not Pc/Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo gamers.
