Crazy to think how godly capcom and Konami were in past eras, so many classics. It’d be pretty tough to release a game and hope it even gets interest, so many people forget so fast. Safest bet would be dinocrsis since that genre has been big success recently. Or I think a strider devil may cry style type of game would be cool or remake of Tasunoko vs Capcom would be a bigg surprise as well, now with anime more prevalent than ever before it’d be a home run, add new stages characters ect..
Definitely a classic but it seems fighting usually don’t reach the masses nowadays if it isn’t EVO ready. Top down view fighting game, I wonder how would it transition to the modern age, how do you make it compelling and competitive. Not much mechanics to it. Side note to that comment I always thought Sony’s smash clone game would of been more successful if that had actually went with a power stone type clone not so much smash
Always cool to be reminded of these types of events and look back at what came. I mean I think the merger helped both companies out, Nintendo did well and that’s an understatement and Sony kept on trucking even through the beginning hiccups. All in all when you look back on that gen I honestly feel ninty did well and had many classics, only thing I could give to Sony in that era was no denying there Rpg/jrpg genre was godly and to this day no one has come close.

I get it. It was just bringing some light to a dark situation. The world is just full of gloom and despair and that mixed with a scenario where someone is on their last legs is beyongn tough for the immediate family attached to that situation. I imagine that price point has some backing on research of playability. It made no sense to me with them trying to make a game similar to smash brothers, I always thought they should’ve made it more similar to power stone. The 3/4 camera angle alone gives you a more dynamic map and options during battle
Don’t get all the dislikes. I completely agree, if your gonna bring older games to a newer gen spruce it up, update the graphics. You can literally play shenmue on P.C with emulator at 1080p, so nothing new here
Ps1 is and will forever be the king of rpg/jrpg. That gen is a goldmine for rpgs, I sometimes wish the graphical power was on par with the N64 because Ps1 graphically is butt ugly
