Er... What's the point of this? Is it a "because it is there we are gonna climb it sort-of-thing?".
Why would I want to play a Pokemon rip-off / clone? I don't get it. Who's the target market?
Although it looks credible - certainly as far as 4chan goes - it just doesn't seem to make sense as a project...
Next thing you know the lobbyists will be trying to pin drowning kittens or such "evil" on gamers who have a track record of creatively killing their Sim...
Here's two creative ways that made me laugh though: "I made a Sim with no handiness skill try to fix the dishwasher. He was electrocuted twice, the second time he died."
"I also locked a Sim in a room with no door and starved him to death."
Some lovely artwork and the soundtrack theme are available on the official web site. Kan Gao also shares some thoughts on managing expectations from the first game to this one:

While the graphics look good, initial feedback seems to indicate the game is a bit laggy and difficult to play. Reviews on iTunes are not too favourable... It's a pity because the material deserves the best kind of treatment!
I don't think my gaming is at a level where something like this would improve my ability to play :) being an old man I tend to stick with what I know and am a long time Logitech fan :p
Great review but what intrigues me more are the rumours EA is canning the franchise? Anyone heard anything about this?
@Panda... is that a real life tag too :p
I used to (and still do some of the time) take flak for my gamer tag of LikaLota... ;)
Can't add much - I didn't play the first one, but the latest instalment looks pretty cool :)
Great interview! Not my genre but I found the insights and observations on gaming in general, as well as how the game mechanics have evolved a fascinating read.
Take CoD compared to TF2 in South Africa. The one you could easily pirate, the other required Steam authentication. Guess which one became more popular...
Free to play (like TF2) takes away one reason for needing to pirate but what about other issues like slow bandwidth?
Free to play as a model works well. Take Supercell, they gross $1m per day from just two iOS apps, both are free to play with an in-game store. They are bigger than EA on the Apple platform. ...
Nice article! I think there should also be a section detailing games made from movies. There are a plethora of same-old sub standard ones there.
Maybe also biggest game failures... Atari's ET for the 2600 comes to mind and does Duke Nukem Fornever - what an anti-climax that was!
I think you will have to be a cat lover to enjoy this game. And make sure PETA doesn't track you down after you have tortured, sliced and diced your beloved kitties into some six-legged two headed uber-cat...
Interesting to see. I think it illustrates the growing influence "crowd sourcing" has on the direction of games. It reminds me of Gabe Newell's comment about user generated content where he mentioned users are doing a better job of creating content than we are.
Some are a given like "Crysis 3" and "StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm".
Here a few more worth looking at:
Watch Dogs
Dead Space 3
Command & Conquer: Generals 2
Until it actually comes out, a lot of conjecture is moot. As far as the "free" model goes, this is also up in the air until it is actually released.
As it stands, the information on how games will be presented (free vs paid) comes from Boxer8 so whether we like it or not, that is the official take until they say otherwise... :)
The potential is good and anticipation is high. All the pieces are in place. All that remains is to assess the synergy of these elements...
What's wrong with my big gun. And hey, quit knocking on my GF, she has delicious DDD assets... Although I do long for something more cerebral at times...
"Put your money where you mouse is!" I love it :) I want to hear this silken voice... where can I?
Captures the essence and builds a great backdrop, nice trailer :)
The topic is wide open for debate, but here are a few thoughts.
It's important to split sex and violence. They are not the same - we live in a society far more accepting of violence than sex. By and large most games involve violence in some form or another but very few games involve sex. The same could be said of movies.
If we are looking at it from a parenting perspective, it's also about childhood development. As the child gets older the ability to...
