Okay, this argument is officially dead. Take one look at the Japanese PSN store, and you'll quickly know that everyone else got the shaft. US, EU, whatever, it's all the same, because it doesn't have half the content that the Japanese store has.
The least they could do is bring half the PS1 titles they have over there that have a perfectly available English version to our stores, but no. I've been waiting for Einhander, Omega Boost, Bushido Blade, Vagrant S...
That was hilarious - it's not about whatever Olivia Munn was talking about, it was all about the video's editing. NPH slowly changing facial expressions to the more sensitive side of the MGS soundtrack for way too long was awesome, and the ending was cut really well.
You're absolutely correct, Spunnups, it was a terrible show, and it had terrible ratings, but to play Devil's Advocate here: 16 and Pregnant had 2.091 million viewers last night: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2i...
Does that make it a good show? Hehe, not at all, of course, but I think Spike is just...
I'm not quite sure what's going on here. Publicity for your company is always good, unless, of course, the amount of money you pay to put your stuff in the running outweighs the publicity gain.
I think gamerdude132 is right in one way - they know they're going to have a bunch of GOTY publicity anyway, but I'm not sure about the modesty thing - I'm guessing this was all about cash. As I usually do with for-profit organizations.
Thank Jyggalag!
Seriously, though, that's great work on the behalf of VGRevolution. That was a question we all had, and Darren got an answer. Well done.
I wonder what that ZeniMax MMO group is up to, anyway... The Fallout franchise has been moved around quite frequently, and it's a lucrative name, so...?
You know, the more I look at this, the more that I feel Joe was just trying to ask questions the way other people asked him. He's not necessarily as angry at how Geoff acted as much as how it led to a bad outcome for his viewers. Still doesn't excuse him for not knowing how big corporations run, considering he attacks "Corporate" all the time, but it makes a bit of sense.
Okay, so on the runway, it looked like a double-sided serving of awful, but at the pr...
He's a video blogger first and an amateur reviewer second. It's not like he gets review copies or enough cash to make a nice living off his videos. I'm guessing he doesn't have a PS3, and for him, whatever, that's fine. If you want to see him do a pretty good job, check out his Sonic Free Riders review. He's best when reviewing bad games, like most of the amateur community.
Problem is, if he keeps up what he did on this video, he's never going...
Platinum's already learned their lesson; they won't be outsourcing a port job to Sega ever again. Therefore, I'm up for whatever they're planning! Bring it on!
You know, it seemed like a better idea at the time. Now that you mention it, that does sound silly. Agreed!
Now, were this Japan, I would say "Well, yeah. They play Monster Hunter. That's how it goes." But no, NPD isn't covering Japan. You have a point.
But still... why would people be buying new PSP's for piracy reasons unless hackers have already learned how to crack those? Maybe I'm just not up on my PSP hacking news (and I...
This is just weird. Angry Joe is expressing a valid concern, something that's been around for years. Intelligent gamers don't want their interests to be perceived as nothing but immature ultraviolence and boobs.
Too bad, because the VGA's aren't marketing toward intelligent gamers; those gamers follow reviews, they buy stuff that doesn't suck, end of line. What's the point of marketing toward people who are assessing product quality? They want to g...
Gamasutra sure is stabbing around at why PSP's are being sold still while software isn't doing too well. NPD hasn't been a beacon of knowledge about legally downloadable games in the past, and if you want to hack a PSP, you don't buy a new PSP - Sony has a bunch of added protection on newer ones. It's more likely that people are buying a new PSP to replace an old one, a broken one, a lost one, whatever, but there isn't a steady stream of interesting new titles - at l...
Despair, Elder Scrolls games aren't there to shake the foundations of the world with their basic plot. They're there to create a hybrid of a sandbox universe with a fantasy RPG, and they work pretty well at doing just that. Oblivion was maddeningly addictive, and it didn't need the basic structure of the story to be different from any run-of-the-mill fantasy novel, it just needed to be a giant, enjoyable game.
As for the "hero as a dragon slayer" comme...
I don't agree with IGN's list either, or their "geeking out" feature, but it's just an echo of what's been popular before, and they're a site trying to make money. You know as well as I do, fellow readers, that certain sites on N4G would get absolutely no exposure without ripping cosplay pictures off of Google Images and reposting them as an article. It's unfortunate that the readership makes these popular, but there it is, and where the hits are, so go the...
OrangeCows has the right idea here - patents don't always get used. Remember the wonderful time we were having reading the patent for the accurate software PS2 emulator that we thought was going to be in a firmware update? How's that working out for us?
Basically, this is another product out of Sony's R&D department, R&D projects don't always find their way into actual implementation, and money has a lot to do with it. Also, if a competitor announce...
If there's anyone I trust to keep a game just as good-looking on a 2D TV in a 3D sequel, it's Naughty Dog. Considering I don't hemorrhage money, I'd better trust these guys, as I can't wait for the game, but I won't see a 3D TV until they're already obsolete.
Just like the last time, this is just a rehash article of the real thing. You're much better off reading part 2 of the actual interview: http://www.1up.com/do/featu...
The visuals look Loco Roco-esque with a bit more African imagery in there, the attitude is one part Katamari and three parts anti-establishment, and I have no clue how the gameplay's going to pan out. They also have some of their music ready to go (the trailer definitely had in-game music) and it sounds great.
Hey, it's colorful, unique, and interesting. That's a welcome diversion from the current-gen norm. I'm looking forward to it!
Okay, it's a crazy-arrogant statement, and tplarkin is right, Suzuki probably knows a lot more about its influence than we do, but look at this in context.
Shenmue was released right at the tail-end of 1999 in JP, and 2000 everywhere else. FFX development started in 1999, and it saw the light of day in 2001.
Looking at what Square did with the generational shift between PS1 and PS2, it's very easy to see a Shenmue influence; actual voice acting domin...
This makes me love Naughty Dog so much. Many companies (especially those with giant looming bigger companies over their heads) would only acknowledge the "holiday" season in passing. Naughty Dog changes up their money system on Hanukkah, advertises it as a Hanukkah celebration, and really makes it fit the 8 days theme. That's the holiday season done right. Can't wait to see what they'll do on Christmas.
Yeah, this isn't a bad thing, nor would it be a bad thing if the same were said about the X360. It's a sign that these consoles are offering more than just games, which is great. I don't think I've left a console on more than my PS3, because I'll be playing games at one point, watching the now-embedded Netflix at another point, using a bunch of stuff from an easily-connected external hard drive, and then going back to playing some games.
Well, okay. I h...
