I have the alpha version and it is far past NFS2 in terms of physics when all assists are off. If it cures any doubt Ben Collins is on the physics team.
Well its only in alpha and already looks really good, photorealism lighting is a hot topic on the forums and everyone has access to the debug mode to tweak lighting specs, so its getting better each build, I'm not a photographer so it isn't that big of a deal for me, physics and design are what makes me tic, and CARS has some great potential.
Just got done playing the latest build of CARS and one track has such perfect lighting and detail, it really is awesome.

MS isn't into making things exclusive so much as they are into making money, they need to keep shareholders happy with their $8.5 B purchase. Market share is very important, if Skype wasn't on every device, an alternative might become the standard.
