Nop, PC and consoles are not very different markets. There's a reason Sony and Nintendo don't launch their exclusives on the PC.
Normally a PC gamer has a gaming console... If Microsoft launches their exclusives on the PC, then PC gamers simply won't purchase a X1. They will just get a PS4 or WiiU instead.
Yes, Microsoft will sell more games by launching exclusives on the PC... but sell less consoles.

Simply put, Microsoft lost the multiplatform games market, and with that they lost the console war.
The only thing Microsoft can do now is exclusives, exclusives and exclusives. They need more "big" exclusives to sell consoles. Launching two or three "big" exclusives during a year is not nearly enough.

You will find very few original game ideas out there. Someone is always "borrowing" ideas from others in gaming development.

If you want to blame somebody, then blame every 3rd party studio that accept exclusive deals with Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft... and yes, Square is included, since they have (timed) exclusive deals with Sony (FF7 Remake, Nier 2, etc).
... or are you also going to wish that FF7 Remake and Nier 2 flop since they made exclusive deals with Sony?
Sony could offer this for free and most people (probably) still wouldn't want it.

From a business stand point it was a smart move by Sony, but this just proves one thing:
The PS4's userbase has more dumb people then the PC and X1's userbase combined.
A game that costs 60€ on the PC, that should cost 20€, and limits install to 5 hardware changes?
