Well, what can you expect from Forbes' "SJW extraordinaire" Paul Tassi? These people don't care about games, only about clickbait and creating drama. I only play single player games and 2014 was the worst year I can remember. Alien Isolation was the only memorable game this year, and Assetto Corsa was the best overall for me, but it's a niche game.
Dark Souls 2 was the worst DS yet. The Evil Within was mediocre and really nothing more than an ammo management game that went on for too long (by the end of it I was so tired that I used an infinite ammo cheat to get it done with, and it became trivial, proving my point). ...
This can probably be said of other games in that list, but how is Rime an indie game? It's being made by a studio of ~20 veteran developers and published by Sony.
Being a small sized project compared to the AAA behemots doesn't automatically make a game indie, just like David Cage's games are not indie despite being pretentious garbage.
When has True Crime been a powerful IP? I don't see any loss in dropping the name and focusing on making actual good games like Sleeping Dogs, which also had the added benefit of not featuring American gangbangers (I find them so disgusting that I haven't even played a GTA game since Vice City).
