i can tell you something i work in a large game store and quite a few xbox live subscribers told me they watched the xbox1 reveal on xbox live and it was boring and didnt appeal, they pre ordered ps4, they were not happy with the restrictions placed on them by MS. Taking one developers statement of the consoles being the same this early on is simply idiotic. exactly, games are far too expensive as it is. how can a download game be so expensive it has no resell value at all. Boxed games should be cheaper people would not buy used if new was lower. Day 1 dlc, on disc dlc and other BS tricks come on if they are not making money something is wrong. I read the games industry is worth more than the movie industry.

This is Total BS - There is almost nothing you can do more quickly on compute via a remote server somewhere else on the web, that is of use to a game at run-time. At best your Internet connection will offer you around 6MB/s of bandwidth, the average in the world is an insignificant fraction of that. 6MB/s is slower than reading from something like a USB port.
for me its simple, EA and the rest want their games on all platforms, they would rather get 2 million or what ever sales on ps4 and loose the used game fee, than loose the 2 million sales. I think the platform holder has the choice not the publisher. The publisher can moan and complain but the goal is to reach as many customers as possible, why slit your own throat ?
gotta agree there are so many better games out, but the so called hardcore gamer wont have a word said against the unimaginative, same game every year, people who buy fifa and cod and nothing else are simply casual gamers like mobile gamers. i am not sure what timed deals achieve, i certainly dont go out crying and have to buy a different console due to a timed dlc deal.
