PC/Xbox/Ninty fans wont blow this up for a simple reason.
The Sony camp is a special kind of people. They have this weird attachement to their plastic black box. To me its like a cult following. They are the nastiest and most extreme bunch of fanboys on the internet with the Apple fanboys I think.
Nobody will make a big deal out of this because well ... unlike Sony fanboys well they either dont care, understand how tech works or simply dont have this obsessio...
I remember back in the day when people were saying that Home was going to kill the 360. All the fanboys were like "just wait" till Home comes out haha.

Pop culture does not refer to pop music. Games like COD and GTA5 for instance are what you can call "pop culture" by their popularity. Same goes for things like the iPhone, Beats by Dre, Jay Z etc etc.
