I would just like to preface this post by saying that i am not a fanboy (i own a ps2, a wii, and a 360).

Think about every person you know who has a PS2. In my case i probably know 20 people who own one, and out of those 20 people i would consider maybe 5 of them hard core gamers. With the article's logic the gameboy and the DS would have been failures too.

The gameboy was killing its rivals when it was in black and white. The DS was called a gimmick when it came out and now it is killing the PSP in sales.

The one thing nintendo has on its side is games that appeal to a mass audience (i went to three stores in manhattan in the past two days that were sold out of Hotel Dusk). The wii games at the moment are on the simple side but i doubt ...

. . . if nintendo did not have recent success with the DS. EVERYTHING said about the Wii was said about the DS. "It's Gimmicky" "It's Not Powerful" "It's for kids." The DS is killing the PSP despite being a cheaper, less powerful, gimicky system.
