Funny how people talk certain games down. There's tons I don't like, but I won't attack it, just voice that I don't like it and why. These people feel like they are the authority.

I played 4 and 6 first, then 7/8/9 and finally 10. I suggest playing them that way if possible but 10 is the best so whatever.

Humans have a tendency to oover analyze and rely on statistics, and make what they call "informed decisions" but the proof is in the pudding; that doesn't always (or I submit, often does NOT) work in practice.
There's no alternative to common sense. If you can afford to hit $299 then do it. More games and more fans, you can't go wrong.

The Western RPGs don't belong on a top 50 with the likes of FF8 and Xenogears. Maybe they could fit on a top 1,000 but otherwise the best RPGs are jRPGs.

Gender is irrelevant for a protagonist. As is age, or race, almost anything else. I like Lee Everett not because he is black or middle aged, since I am white in my 20's, but because he is a good character. Liked Clementine not because she was a prepubescent female, but because I am a gamer. These things mean notbing. As a gamer I want a good character, not some narcissistic projection of myself.

It needs online play, otherwise it is trash. Online isn't a PS4 thing, it goes back to Saturn (and further back outside the U.S). Sorry but certain genres suck without online (especially Fighting games, npt everyone has access to a thriving offline community) and we can never experience something like an 8-bit "Journey," not without the Internet.
