I bought Perfect Dark a few months ago and have been waiting for a rainy day to play it. It's supposed to rain tonight. I'm looking forward to playing after reading this. Goldeneye will always have a soft spot in my heart from the multi-player college days, but I'm old now and mostly play single player.
I had not seen that Donkey Kong cover before. That is a bad-ass looking monkey.
PS Mike Haggar should be on every box cover, regardless if he's in the game or not.
Contra is my favorite co-op game to play on the NES, it's just too bad it's harder to reel in friends to play the NES at my age. There's so much to love about Contra, the fast-paced run-and-gun, weapons upgrades, music, large boss sprites, the 80's Action Blockbuster feel, 30 lives for each player after entering the code. I've never attempted to beat this game without the code, I like dying with abandon.
Excellent list. I'm currently playing Mega Man X and OoT is next up, for the first time. I was a Playstation boy during the N64 days.
Thank you, Nintendo. My wife will also be happy by my not monopolizing the TV after my daughter goes to bed.
It is on Wii VC and it is a hard as nails game. But I wouldn't have it any other way. This is the baddest Contra game I've ever played--the graphics, weapons, and pace are perfect with the traditional Contra run-and-gun style. If this game allowed the Konami code it would be the Contra everyone talked about.
If I had a 3DS getting Punch-Out on there would be great, but even better if it had Mike Tyson, and not that imposter Mr. Dream. I already have Mario Kart on the N64, where it is best played.
This game was pure awesome. The N64/Playstation days have my favorite wrestling games. Most notably WCW/Revenge for the one and only Scott "Oozing Machismo" Hall.
The majority of my favorite multiplayer games are on the N64. That console was built with multiplayer as the focus, with 4 ports for controllers.
I just checked my copy of Captain Skyhawk and the name "Kyle" can be faintly seen on the back. Every time I see writing on a cart I'm going to think of you're hilarious article.
Altered Beast and Streets of Rage. I'd love to see the return of the 2D beat 'em ups in HD. Word.
