The PS3 has Blu-Ray for a reason. Sony chose to not go cheap and it has cost them some sales, but it’s amazing you see comparisons to the cheapest versions of hardware out there like this article. The PS3 is very close to the 360 Elite in price and is built for the future.
Yes, there are 30+ dollar movies out there, but there are also many Blu-Ray movies that are much cheaper like Black Hawk Down (

Very good comments witchking and good points. I agree with you and I don’t consider the 360 a one dimensional platform either and I have a PS3. There are more good games on both consoles that I will ever be able to afford the time or cash to play.
The next game I’m getting will be Bioshock for the PC since I prefer to buy used and will be getting it so cheap (not sure why) compared to either the 360 or (other) PS3 console games.

Microsoft is hoping (and most agree) that Halo3 will offset their cost for the RROD and finally allow the Xbox line to make a profit seeing as how it has lost money over the last 5 years that the Xbox name has been around.

Also is the fact the no updates are possible to provide you with DTS HD MA audio decoding since the new 360 has the older 1.2 HDMI interface hardware and DTS HD MA decodes require the newer HDMI 1.3 interface.

While I hear what you are saying I really don’t see a big difference in Sony and Microsoft as far a trying to establish their respective game consoles as the ultimate multi media devices. I would offer up the HDMI interface on the new 360’s, downloadable movies from XLB and the HD-DVD drive add on as evidence on the 360 console side. While we are kicking Sony for having a Blu-Ray player, lets not forget that Sony is a movie company also and that the PS3 is the best selling HD player out there by far. Sony has both movies and games to help recoop their cost and not to mention that the PS2 sales at this point is just a cash cow for them.
Anyway, with the widely acclamed VISA OS failure they need a bit of good news.

People pay 15 - 30 dollars for a 1.5 hour movie so I think it is worth it. Unless your a hard core player I suspect it will take most longer than 6 hours to finish.

You guys need to take it easy on FirstknighT. Its easy to see he/she is a very frustrated 360 user that needs to come here and bash so he doesn't feel so bad. He probably has his 360 in for REPAIR yet again and so has a large amount of free time on his hands now so GIVE HIM A BREAK!!
This new format is just to hype HD-DVD and will break the rules to work. Most people know that 15gb is a single layer, 30gb is a dual layer, and now a tripple layer is 51gb? Guess they are reenginerring the standard to be 17gb, 34gb, and 51gb?
And none of those $399.00 360's included any type of High Def drive. Let’s not forget every PS3 is a Blu-Ray High Def player also.

I have 5+ hours in so far and I'm no where near half way done. Grats to the uber players that can finish that fast, but I'm not one.
I think free is good and use free stuff every day.

I see changes and improvements every week in PSN ( a big set of changes this week ) and it will only get better! Thats good news for all gamers because as PSN continues to improve and offer more it will put pressure on M$ to drop their fee. A win/win for the consumer reguardless of what console you have.
Hopefully there will be very little difference between the consoles and the PC. The bad news on the PC side is that it's been delayed for a few months. This may make it better, but I can't wait two more months past November.
