Not only did it take 8 months to do that in the US. But worldwide it sold more systems than any other this year in 9 months. And its sold more than any nintendo system ever in 9 months.

The 3ds and 360 are. They are directly competing.
The 3ds sold 15+ million in 9 months ( more than any nintendo system ever in 9 months), the 360 sold 14.9 in 12. We can see who was number 1
Hell when the first 3ds revision hits we will be seeing 20+ a year.

The 360 is currently leading worldwide console sales ( it didnt outsell the 3ds so in terms of overall system its number 2) , while other systems are getting replaced like the wii which has outsold it worldwide every year aside from 2011 so basically 2005_2010. So leading 1 year is irrelevant if it wont change the overall picture
The overall picture is worldwide is the wii, ds, psp, ps3 have stick its foot inside the 360 overall.

The wii is getting replaced which outsold it total worlwide, the psp is getting replaced which outsold it worldwide, The ds was replaced which outsold it worlwide, and its neglagible against the ps3.
So basically it was second in terms of system in 2011 worlwide by default. And the sad part is the 3ds outsold it in 9 months
so? it isnt number 1 worldwide or even 2 or even 3 this gen...........
and 49 percent market share in the US means nothing when the wii is about to be replaced( which outsold it in the US for 6 years straight and the 3ds is heating up ( current 1 worldwide and will be number 1 in the US once a remodel happens) . The gen is basically rapping up so bragging about sales now when your basically tied for last wordlwide isnt something I would do
