I know right, they say its cause the helix translates it into your language, but the NPCs speak French.
After about 10 mins I switched to French dialogue, English subtitles. Much better. Makes it harder to watch cut scenes, but I'm not enjoying them much, the faces look excellent, but I can't stop staring at the ugly hair. I wish they all wore hoods.

Your ship isn't upgraded enough.
Take note on the level of other ships and stay clear of anything higher than you. Take out small ships first and work your way up, collecting as much wood as possible. upgrade the side cannons first, as they do the most damage by far.
Circling your enemy is the best strategy, but just keep moving. A stationary boat is an easy target.

Watched some twitch yesterday, looks really different. A slow methodical platformer, with really nice interaction between player and the wolf/fox.

Who cares about downgrades? It's just the latest bandwagon to jump on. All the games you mentioned still look amazing, not to mention are fun as hell, my favourites of the gen so far.
