I love MGS and I was problably on of the only people that wasn't crying about changing to raiden in MGS2 not Kojima stated that he made Raiden the way he is now because too many ppl cried about it so he was going to make him a cyborg ninja that you couldnt play.
I would love to play as mgs4 raiden and even mgs2 raiden but i dont most ppl deserved to play as him with the raiden hat over the past years :P
