I bought a Firewatch off a bloke in a pub once. Turned out it was just a cheap knock off. I guess you could say I got....burnt.
Game looks decent me. I love the idea of walking sims, but the lack of interaction with the worlds is always a let down. Rapture hugely suffered from this. Looks like Firewatch does a better job.
Price will be a deciding factor for many gamers, and the huge number of different systems available is confusing. I'm going to sit this one out until there's a clear winner - I don't need 2016's equivilant of a betamax player gathering dust on my shelf.
I'm split on Just Cause 3. It's a wonderful, stupid mess, but it's nothing else. The missions are all cut and paste (go somewhere, blow something up, high five a local), and the game suffers long sitting because of it. Play for more than an hour and you'll soon see the repetition.
Add to that the slow loading times and bugs on consoles, as well as the fact that it does little to push itself beyond JC2, and...it falls a bit flat.
BUT - for thos...
Yeah, the Crash teasing almost seems like a troll at this point. They know there's a huge appetite for the series to return to PS4, and all these hints, without any actual concrete news, seems unnecessarily cruel.
I can't get my head around the thought process for that one.
Be interesting to see some footage. Wonder how they'll tackle explaining the story for newcomers. Remaster of the first two games? A brief summary at the start of the new game? I played them both back in the day (and loved them), but I can hardly remember anything about the plot.
Well, EA did give us some freebie games at the event last year...could happen again!
Agent! That would be a blast from the past. It's still mentioned on Rockstar's website, so there's always an outside chance...

Fingers crossed! Last year's event was pretty cool and was packed with great games, here's hoping 2015 can top it! Can't wait to see what gets revealed...
Do you really want a Metal Gear game with Kojima? I mean, we're almost certainly going to get one - Konami won't just leave that money on the table - but I feel like these games are the distilled essence of his genius. Granted, it's not always successful, but his games are unique and always stick with you. I'd hate to see the franchise farmed out to someone without his passion, and become just a bland, annualised series.
I'm saving all these long games for when I've got the time to play them. I reckon retirement should do it. See you in 30 years, Fallout 4!
Totally agree. The whole concept of the game lives and dies by her performance.
I think space battles *might* be in the final product, and the AT-ATs were controllable to a certain degree (well, you got to fire the guns, which is something I guess), but yeah, I see where you're coming from.
A well crafted single player campaign would be a nice addition.
I think (hope) we only saw a small slice of the game in the beta, will be interesting to see what the full product looks like.
What would that look like, compared to the upcoming BattleFront game? Genuine question!
I just want an immersive, story driven single player game. Battlefront looks cool, but it's not what I'm after. Give me another Jedi Knight!
Reboot. Just start it all again. Either that or claim it was all just a dream...
The black box titles have such a classic look - they really do embody the system. So many great games too. You can't beat the names of some of the titles - Golf. Tennis. Pinball. You know exactly what you're getting!
Nice article, well worth a read.
The Hoth map does seem a little too loyal to the film (that is, mostly a barren tundra) - I'm hoping for a rich range of environments and maps in the full game - they've got plenty to choose from across all the films.
I think anyone who is well versed in horror probably spotted a few of the twists - the game was very much a love letter to the genre. I feel that having that knowledge probably also helped your playthrough to, but not following the usual horror tropes (mainly, making sure you don't split your party up when given the option!).
There's been hints of a sequel - I can see it becoming a whole long series like all the classic horror movies.
The game definitely takes a turn. I agree, I don't really feel it was necessary, and I would have liked the story to stay on its original course. Cracking game though, regardless!
It's reassuring to see a 'walking simulator' that goes beyond creating a world that you can't interactive with. I'm hoping Firewatch paves the way for truly interactive story telling, rather than just walking through a sterile world. More human interaction would be a bonus too....
