But the PS3 couldn't be captured through HDMI so there is no "still" about it. The PS3 had this HDCP tech in place and so users would have to bypass it via the component out (of which the PS4 DOES NOT HAVE).
Of course, you could use a HDCP stripper or a dev kit which Sony/the media/developers would use to record gameplay, but HDCP stripping is illegal and anything recorder in such a manner would be removed and could get you sued.

I think this article maps out this sites audience to a T.
This rumour/news how ever you percieve it has been around since we knew the details of the consoles inputs/outputs.
1) The PS4 only has one HDMI port, meaning if it used the same HDCP tech as the PS3 (which is in place to stop Blu-Ray pircay), there will be no way to use cap card on the PS4.

2) What this debate on legitimacy (of the rumour) is really about, is how likely are Sony to keep the same tech...

This new imagining of the Reward system is fantastic. I was a bit peaved that the phased it out, just before my birthday month when I could've cashed in. But this reward scheme is miles better.

Credits for
-playing new games
-renewing
-map packs
-surveys
-and more

In reality, a lot of it is just a cash back scheme for XBL purchases but depending on how much credits are worth, even if 1000 credits is 50p, this is g...

It's gotten to the point where I open up N4G and laugh hysterically at the content. This is a joke. Pathetic.

Dev's say hundereds of times that differences will be non-existent - negilible.
Sony say it once, GOSPEL.

The only way I see TESO being a vviable sub based game as if they release it as a free console download with a 5 level trial, £40 for the first year. Once its user based is established, MAYBE, they could last 1, 2 years before having to cave and going F2P anyway. As an MMO, you expect it to be in it for the long run, and the current sub service totally contradicts that.

You should really be pushing for a F2P model for your game Bethesda. The paid for MMO is dead. There's too much choice. I'd rather you had made a faux-MMO in the league of Destiny or the Division, then try to make an MMO with a dying subscription plan.

I'll be playing a copy of your game on PC, on a free private server thanks. You lost me.

A logical argument from a writer with no hint of fanboyism, criticising others for their blind consumer allegiances.
And of course the opening 5 comments I read are openly bashing the writer and have agree's through the roof.

Ladies and gentlemen, N4Sony.

I think the problem with this is differentiating between development stages. Don't expect to see the 147 titles the article doesn't account for anywhere near the first year. We won't reach that figure for years.

This happens all the time for a majority of games. Not news. Definitely not "smart" either. Why ignore half the market?

But if you own an Xbox with live already and you switch, you have to play £40 for PS+. Which levels out the cost.

People are so Sony happy at the moment that even when presented with a sound and logical argument via video (you didn't even have to read anything), they still throw reason out of the window.

"A temporary band-aid for the solution ot triple A budget cuts, studio shutdowns, massive layoffs." Well said. An opinion we share.

I understand people want the used market, but why stand up for the likes of Gamestop, who unfairly charge on used games considering they take 100% of profit on a game they buy for £8 and sell for £35.

The used market wouldn't even have been killed. Microsoft created a bridge to ease the transition that eve...

I don't know what it is that people don't understand. Microsoft are paying Activision to have exclusivity on dedicated servers, that they run ON THEIR OWN CLOUD?
Are you serious?
PS4 could have dedicated servers if they allowed Activision to take advantage of Gaikai for the purpose.
Can Gaikai sustain that with it's current and future allocations for use (based on streaming games for backwards compatability)? I honestly don't know.
Can Sony even...

That's obviously a factor but if Microsoft can secure their current user base for next gen then they're fine.
XBL service is the same. There's been no mention of price increase.
Obviously the people that already have Playstations may, but probably won't already have PS+. For the proportion that do, upgrade. Your life will be easier.

Side note: @WeAreLegion my math isn't off. £420, minus the £40 cost of Fifa. £380. Minus the ...

To be quite honest, a lot of people aren't considering the full implications.of the free Fifa for europe.

For current 360 owners and live subscribers, of which there are millions, consider -

PS4 + PS+ + Fifa 14 is more or less £420.
Xbox + Fifa + the live you likely have already is £420.

Microsofts deal actually balanced things more than people think.

Jesus. Were you one of the peopl calling for change? It's just a bandwagon thing. The accepted thing now is to hate Microsoft. Initially, some of the people had legitimate reasons founded on logic and reason. Now those same people are criticising them for listening. It's becoming more and more obvious that people's minds were made since before the first Xbox One reveal. The pendulum is just swinging Sony's way this time when it comes to people folliwing gaming news.
