I recently bought a Switch because my commute is longer now. First game I got with it was Doom 2016. I already own it for PC, but I wanted to play it on the go. The graphics and framerate are of course not that great, but I get to play Doom 2016 while I'm on the train to work. It's been a blast. That's a win for Nintendo in my book.
The key word there is "recently." Most of what you've mentioned is from a couple years ago to over 10 years ago. But we've seen pretty lazy ports of Final Fantasy VI, Romancing Saga 2, and Chrono Trigger that are just mobile ports slapped onto PC and consoles.

Yeah. Nier Automata has a fantastic story. Dragon Quest definitely isn’t like that. I like the characters and atmosphere and the simplicity of it. It feels comfortable just settling into the game. If that’s not what you’re looking for though and you’re more interested in a unique story then it’s not going to scratch that itch for you.
