its actually not so much doom and gloom, its more legit concerns about a struggling system from someone who owns the system...I bought a wii u a while back and have the exact same concerns as the writer but hopefully the issues with the system will be worked out sooner than later.
my main issue with the system is the virtual console, i would really like to play some older nintendo games on my gamepad, but there only 3 games available, why wasn't the virtual consoles ready...

I have a Wii u and while new Wii u games would be nice, i really would like if the store had more retro games, so far having just two games, balloon fight and f zero, is kinda lame
I ran into this same issue with ea except my game was bf3, i bought the game (luckily on sale) and couldn't play multiplayer, kept getting a "error from ea online" message, i went back and forth with them for almost a month about it, and all customer service told me to do was reset my password over and over, after not being given a refund, i just deleted my origins account and moved on. Bf3 was the first and last pc ea game i ever buy

totally agree with you on the fans attitudes, i have spoken with plenty of Nintendo fan-boys who say "who needs third party when Nintendo devs are the best EVER!!!"
I bought a wii u and actually like the system, there are some nice things about it, that i think devs could take advantage of, but until Nintendo fans actually step up and buy third party, the system will continue to die a slow painful death

Trash panic is so much fun its crazy, i recall about a year ago i kept my ps3 on for two straight days trying to beat the last level, its one of those games where if you stop you have to start over, so i would pause it and come back later, i kept getting to the part where you have to burn the earth, and i could never get it, still was a lot of fun, hard trophies as well
