If you are interested in the idea of holographic disks look up HVD on google. In terms of capacity blu-ray will be enough for next gen as they increase the layers, 100-200 Gig should be plenty. The real issue with physical media next gen will be bit-rate. If MS is forced to go BR Sony could give them a 6x BRD and make the PS4 with an 8 or 10x. That would be a huge advantage. So it really comes down to what you are using it for. If you plan to play games only go with the PC because you will get a lot better hardware for the same price. If you are using it for several things including the internet and dont want to have to worry about the dreaded blue screen or viruses the pricey Mac is worth it.

Look I used to own a 360 loved it at the time. The original gears is easily in the top 5 for the generation. I gave my 360 to my brother before he went to college and bought myself a PS3 in late 07.

The next xbox is pivotal for MS. IMHO it will either be the hardcore victor next cycle or their last console. I think that Sony will either win this generation overtime or mitigate the sales difference to a moot point. I think next gen is crucial for both companies
