To be honest, a genre can be bad but still have good games belonging to it.
Take hack and slash, for example.
The concept of this genre is awful and sounds mindless, repetitive and boring, but most of the games from it are really actually quite good.
Stealth- Again, very bad concept for a video game. Makes it seem like you are avoiding the action that you crave and playing the game wrong. But metal gear solid pulls it off brilliantly with boss battles...

As for which game was better, each had it's ups and downs.
But sonic 3 and knuckles (to me) is the single best 2D platformer ever. I mean, the game was just amazing. I've re-bought it twice this generation just because of how great it is.

A physical map is a little pointless when you can look at the in game one so easily. The one in-game even tells you where you are on it.
The ability that shows you where the nearest shard is helps.

X is what I'll forever remember as the last great final fantasy. I hope they can turn it around, but after this game, SE disappointed me time and time again.
Heh, not interested. Dead rising 2 was more than enough zombie killing for me to last me a lifetime. I tried for the 70,000 zombie trophy and got to about 3000 using the slice cycle and gave up.
